 5G is the biggest enhancement in wireless technology in a decade. The upgrade to 5G should generate demand for increased speed, software, and applications. In the United States in 2019, 5G accounted for 1% of all mobile subscriptions. In 2025, this number is expected to jump 74%. In 2025, there will be an estimated 2.6 billion 5G subscriptions globally. Many industries are already mentioning 5G in their businesses. These industries include industrial, healthcare, manufacturing, automotive, and public safety industry. Improved technology is expected within these industries. This improved technology includes drone delivery, smart homes, smart cars, and robot-assisted surgery. 5G technology also promises connection speeds up to 400 times quicker than 4G and has the ability to connect far more devices to the network. In comparison to 4G, 5G has 10 times the increase in connection density, 10 times decrease in latency, 100-time increase in traffic capacity, and 1,000-time increase in data volume. Insights envision the technology sector being a stand-out again this year. Near sights are focused on earnings visibility, which remains strong with the anticipated rollout of 5G. Far sights believe this will be a multi-year catalyst for everything from semiconductors to cell-phone carriers.

            What can 5G do? 5G will improve broadband, autonomous vehicles, public safety and infrastructure, remote device control, and healthcare. 5G adds huge amounts of spectrum in bands that haven’t been used for commercial broadband traffic. Expect to see autonomous vehicles rise at the same rate that 5G is deployed across the U.S. In the future, your vehicle will communicate with other vehicles on the road, provide information to other cars about road conditions, and offer performance information to drivers and automakers. 5G will allow cities and other municipalities to operate more efficiently. Utility companies will be able to easily track usage remotely, sensors can notify public works departments when drains flood or streetlights go out, and municipalities will be able to quickly and inexpensively install surveillance cameras. Since 5G has remarkably low latency, remote control of heavy machinery will become a reality. The ultra-reliable low latency communications component of 5G could fundamentally change health care.

            5G is the newest innovation in technology. 5G technology promises connection speeds up to 400 times quicker than 4G and has the ability to connect far more devices to the network. 5G is about to change the world in ways we don’t even know yet. 5G networks were rolled out in 2019 and will expand rapidly in 2020. 5G will connect everything and everyone.
